Dear All,

Greetings of the day!

First of all good news our E newsletter has become online from this month all the issues can be archived on www.iraenewsletter.com.

Few very exciting studies related to rheumatoid arthritis therapy have been discussed in this issue. First one is vaccine like therapy for ACCP positive RA patients. In this study 34 ACCP positive RA patients were given single intradermal injection of autologus modified dendritic cells was found to have significant anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory effect after 1month with good safety profile. This is first in human phase 1 study published in science translation medicine June issue.

Another study that is published in June issue of the journal of pharmacology and experimental therapeutics shows JNK (c-Jun N-terminal kinases )inhibitors efficacy in attenuating development of collagen induced arthritis. In this study authors have shown suppression of proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines by inhibiting matrix metalloproteinase 1 and 3 in fibroblast-like synoviocytes. This is new area of RA therapeutics needs to be proven in future studies.

In patients perspective section article written by Germain FOFANA on dry mouth is very good and discusses some basic aspects of disease. Professor Urowitz is our expert for this issue who discussed lupus nephritis in detail.

We sincerely request all members to post their questions to us so that we can put those questions to the experts.
