In recent advances section we have brought few interesting articles related to RA and spondyloarthropathies, particularly early bone loss in preclinical period and long term data of adalimubab+ methotrexate combination in RA, Neridronate (new bisphosphonate) in high doses as effective as Infliximab in AS in an open label trial, and is there any role of antibiotics in reactive arthritis?.
If the result of this open label study (Neridronate v/s Infliximab) is proven in RCTs then it might be a new breakthrough for AS patients.
We always screen arthritis patients for tuberculosis before starting biologics, in this context two important articles; Latent TB screening in patients with inflammatory arthritis by MT and interferon release assay discrepancies, and comparison of TB incidence in AS and RA during TNF inhibitor treatment may be useful for everyone.
